Luxuries, who needs ’em?

The luxuries of life are just illusions we create to fool ourselves into believing that we cannot be happy without them. When in reality we are perfectly capable of finding happiness in what we have.

I have many luxuries in my life which till a few years ago I was without. Sure life has become easier but they are not the key to happiness.

I think the only thing I couldn’t live without was my family. If I was marooned on an island I wouldn’t be missing my cell phone or my internet connection I would be desperately craving human interaction.

Designer clothes, designer shoes,

Luxury yachts and luxury cruise,

Expensive gadgets, pricey cigars,

Big mansions and sports cars

Do we really need any of those?

If we have our family close

Can they really make us happy?

Without the love of our family.

  7. Because… “no man is an island”.

I believe also that at the end of the day materials things are just tools, human needs human.

Materials things don’t have feelings and they cannot communicate with us. Well I guess Wilson the ball from the movie Cast Away did help Tom Hanks to stay sane.. but of course it’s just fictional. Lol! But seriously, in reality we really need human interaction and I totally agree with you on that. 🙂

Great post by the way! 🙂

    • Thank you so much for your comment. Can’t help thinking about the refugees in the world of today who don’t even have basic necessities and sometimes are even denied the luxury of being with their families 😦

      • I know and I feel you too. The biggest problem here in our country (Philippines) is corruption and we are not blind to see the reality of the world most of us were living. There are so many poor people and yet some in the government still have guts to steal the money even though they knew there are families who don’t have home, kids who can’t go to school.. it is really heartbreaking. I’m not saying this because we are or I am proud of it but it is our reality here, but good thing about us is little by little we know how step up and how to stand in our own rights. I believe in time we will overcome this and we will live the way we were supposed to live. 🙂

I guess the best thing that we can do is to help. We are blessed not because we are not in the situation of the victims of the war or the poor people but rather we are blessed because we do know that we can help them, we are capable of that, maybe not that big but at least in our own little way we know we can make a difference. 🙂

Thanks too and you’re welcome 🙂 Be blessed!
