Baby shoe pattern

I found a pattern online to make baby booties. This is the first one I made using blue felt and buttonhole stitch to join the pieces.

Soon I had to enlarge the original pattern as baby’s feet have grown! I also found it was just quicker to glue the two pieces instead of stitching. I added some elastic to keep them from falling off.

I came up with these in literally ten minutes to match the headband I had made earlier. Baby is all ready for a birthday party!

Against the Odds

Ten little perfect toes.

In your 40s, the chances of getting pregnant diminish. If you do get pregnant, you are more likely to develop problems like high blood pressure and diabetes. The chances of miscarriage increase. You are also more likely to have a complicated delivery and a preterm birth. The odds of stillbirth go up as well. Your baby is more likely to suffer from genetic disorders.

That’s what they tell you.

Yet, here they are. Ten perfect little toes. Against the odds.

My son and I made these kindness jars today. Each member of the family (there’s a jar for Venus, our maid and nanny as well) has the opportunity to earn points by doing something kind and thoughtful. The points will appear as colorful beads in the jars. There’s a window on the side of the jars so we can see what level we’re at. Negativity will be punished by taking away beads. Each person has his criteria for earning or losing points.
I also want to translate the beads into cash earned for my son. This should keep his interest for longer and will also teach him about how to handle money. We haven’t started giving him pocket money as yet.
Here in Bahrain where we live, we get to enjoy a moderate winter and feel very fortunate to do so. The world needs warmth at the moment and the best kind is kindness.

Cupcake toppers- My son asked for a superhero birthday this time and he wanted to be his own superhero – Super Nadir. He designed his own symbol and costume and I happily followed his lead by using his chosen colors for the decorations. Of course we had to accommodate Superman, Spiderman and the others as well!
