August 2013

Hi, I’m Zainab. I’m a stay at home mom of a 4 year old who keeps me on my toes. I previously worked for around 10 years with a telecom company but decided to leave when my son was little as I couldn’t do justice to either of the two roles.

Last year I wrote, illustrated and published two children’s books. (Check them out here). I started this blog as a suggestion from my publisher. As in the case of my books, my son is my inspiration for my blog as well. I write about him, about my life as a mother and also about life in general. I like to write about relationships and you can see that in my short stories as well.

I’m also very fond of photography and take part in many photography events on WordPress. I take my inspirations from my travels around the world and I also like to capture with my camera my very expressive and active son.

Compared to keeping a journal, the great thing about blogging is that you can connect with so many people. I treasure your comments on my writing and I love discovering new blogs. I learn immensely from different styles of writing and expression that I come across in the blogging world.

I need a daily prompt to write,

A photo challenge to click my camera,

I think I just might,

Have to do something extra.

My very own prompt

To raise the bar,

I really doubt

I have to look very far.

My life as a mother,

My son is an inspiration,

So I should look no further,

And make my own creation.

October 2018

I missed out on a couple of years of blogging but I’m back with a big update! Not only is my son Nadir almost 9, I also have a 2 yr old daughter Zoya. Life is so much more fun with a precious little girl. She absolutely adores her big brother and copies everything he does.

“Playing” on the play station like her big brother

I’m still enjoying crafting and last year I started a small business of handmade jewelry which I make with the art of paper quilling. Check out my online store here.

I feel a bit rusty but I’m enjoying getting back to writing. I hope you can feel my passion in what I write!

  1. When(ever, ever) i have a child, I plan on recording EACH and EVERY moment I possibly can. In pictures and videos and whatever else starts to exist in the next eight to ten years. Haha. 🙂
    Your son is really cute!

  2. You have a wonderful son whose smiles shows pureness of joys, wonder, of everything that we all hope to have in our hearts. My blog too is about my journey with my family, particularly my little boy. I started in 2011. I wish I did earlier. One of the best things we can give them so one day they can look back to these moments. Wishing you and you family all the best.

    • Thank you so much for your comment. I look forward to reading your posts about your precious little boy. These moments we have with our children should indeed be savored and cherished. Best wishes, Zainab

  12. Salaams Zainab,

I have just come across your Blog, you have a great Blog! I’m sure your son is super proud of you, just as you are of him. Children truly are a blessing. I love children and travelling/exploring the world, Alhamdulillah.

  13. I like your tag line about kids being god’s proof that life goes on (sorry, I’m sure I’m not quoting that correct….

I also believe that kids are blessed (and a blessing) – otherwise they wouldn’t survive childhood 😉

Enjoy reading your posts. Continue with the great work 🙂

    • Hi, thank you for the nomination and sorry for the very late reply. I already have one of these so I couldn’t accept another one. Thank you for the thought. All the best.

  14. my mom was working till retirement, i miss many things in my life that i would not if she would have stopped working, and taken care for me. I draw respect for your decision to take break from job and taking care for the child.. regards

    • Thank you so much for your comment. I hope my son appreciates that too when he grows up. It’s so hard to measure success as a parent, it’s nice to be acknowledged now and again.

  15. Hi Zaina!

Great blog and content. Would it be possible to use one of your images in a non-profit landscape magazine? The one with flame of the forest trees in the lakes?

    Kind Regards,

  16. Household management isn’t easy: Hubby comes home and you’re still working. Each child you have is a full-time job, too, and working as a stay-at-home mom is terribly underrated.

Congrats on your books! Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures as a stay-at-home mom. I know of several who wouldn’t do it any other way. 🙂
