I’ve spent most of my life living in Islamabad which lies comfortably in the foothills of Margalla Hills. If you go up these hills you can get a view of the capital city and be amazed by how flat and spread out it is. I took this shot when I visited my home city in April for a brief holiday. In the dim light of the setting sun, the city seems to fade into the horizon with the bold white of the Faisal mosque defying the otherwise faint lines. How many before me sat by the tree stump observing this peaceful, dreamy view of a city that is often accused of being too slow paced?
wow!! that’s all I can think of just wow! what a view 🙂
Hi Andy, glad you liked it. It’s just beautiful at that time of the year. Actually it’s beautiful all the year round. 🙂
I bet! 🙂 🙂
beautiful photograph
Thanks.
that’s more like a ‘bird’s eye view’ pic ……superb !!
Thanks, the “little bird” is up on the hills enjoying the view!
Nice. It looks very green and lush, so I assume this is just after the rainy season (or is it green and lush there all year?).
Actually this is in spring before the rainy season which is July- September. We have all the four seasons in Islamabad and we get to enjoy many colors throughout the year. My favorite is in Autumn when the leaves turn beautiful shades of orange and red with the evergreen trees forming a perfect background.
I love the glimpse of the mosque in the background.

This is Faisal Mosque, the largest mosque in Pakistan and an iconic symbol of its capital city Islamabad.
Lovely photo. 😀
Thanks!
breathtaking!
It really is. It’s my favorite place to visit in Islamabad.
What a beautiful photo
Thank you we lovingly call our home city “Islamabad the beautiful”.
I love Islamabad, including it’s slow pace! Visiting Islamabad after living in Karachi and Dubai for years, is such a pleasure. It’s only after a visit to Islamabad that you realize how ‘rushed’ life in cities like Karachi is!
Having got used to the slow paced life in Isloo we have also sought the same type of area far from the noisy and fast paced downtown in both Dubai and Bahrain.. and are loving it! 🙂 I guess Isloo will always stay with us.
Stunning shot ! 🙂
Thank you!
what a view!! Very beautiful!
Yes Islamabad is beautiful!
WOW – very pretty, what a view.
It’s my favorite view of my home city!
A beautiful dreamy shot – who cares about slow when we can have dreamy? I quite liked it; thanks for not only sharing this photo but the interesting narrative as well 🙂
Most welcome. Thanks for the appreciation.
Simply breathtaking!
Thank you!
