“Can we get a dog?” asked my son for the thirtieth time.
“We’ll think about it.” I answered him the same number of times.
A few days later there was Animal day in my son’s school and he was very excited to meet the animals. When I came to pick him up in the afternoon, his teacher told me he had been roaming around very happily with a python round his neck.
“Mama, can we get a snake?” he asked me as we walked to the car. “No!” I said looking horrified.
“Can we get a dog then?”
“Yes.”

It’s all a matter of degree isn’t it? Lovely story, and so true to life, I think.
Thank you. It’s about my son and that part about the snake is true.
Dear Zainab,
I guess if the choice comes between snake and dog, I’d choose dog, too. I think the boy’s a clever operator. Good job.
shalom,
Rochelle
Dear Rochelle,
This story is about my son and is partially true at least about the snake. I got him a fish tank in the end. 🙂
Best wishes,
Zainab
That’s our pet life here, Zainab. You don’t have to housebreak fish. 😉
Great story Zainab, I liked this one, what kids can get us to agree to….well done.
Yes they’re conniving little creatures aren’t they? Thanks for reading.
How cleverly he tricked mom. lovely story. Happy New Year.
Yes, he’s a clever little devil. Happy New Year to you too.
Haha, he’s clever 😀
And cute too!
it goes without saying masha’Allah 🙂
May Allah preserve his cuteness and innocence and protect him from the big bad world, always 🙂
Ameen.
A plan well executed!
Indeed. Thanks for reading.
Clever boy!
He is, isn’t he, takes after his mom 😉
Children are such clever creatures – just a matter of setting the scene and then pouncing!
I enjoyed your take on the prompt
Yes they are I wonder where they get it from! Thanks for reading.
Geat negotiation technique… I guess… that if the snake don’t do it the next step would be a skunk.
Haha, yes that would be something, a skunk!
Shrewd kid! I think I would have got him a dog too. Great story. 🙂
Thanks so much.
That works. 🙂 Dogs are much more loveable than snakes anyway. Happy New Year. The like button isn’t loading so I can’t “like”, but I do.
janet
They definitely are. Snakes? Yikes! Thanks for “liking”!
Very cute! Sounds like this might be a true story?
Some of it is true, the part about the snake but I got him a fish tank instead.
good choice. You don’t have to take fish out for walks 🙂 Happy New Year!
Exactly and neither do you have to give them baths! 🙂 Happy New Year to you too.
I agree a dog is much better than a snake. realistically told.
Yes, snakes are scary!! Thank you for reading.
Ah what a great way to pave the way for a puppy. Cute story! 😀
Yes kids are clever little creatures! Thanks for reading.
Great story. Kids are smart like that. 🙂

Happy to have made you smile 🙂 Thanks for the visit.
Very interesting story. I think your son is very smart!!! He finally got his way (as they all do)….
Yes they sure know how to get their way. Thanks for reading.
Your son is very smart and intelligent—- and of course very cute. He used the right strategy to convince his lovely mom 🙂
Aww thank you for the lovely comment.
🙂
Loving your blog.. hope you share feedback on mine too dear 🙂
Of course just getting to it. 🙂
Getting the answer you want is all about the way in which you ask the question, isn’t it?
That’s something they teach you in seminars isn’t it? How does a 4 yr old know that??
Ha ha! Gotcha! That’s really cute.
🙂 Thanks for reading!
A very clever strategy. I’m not much of a snake person either.
Any child who could put the snake around his shoulders means serious business! Thanks for reading.
and you think mom knows best. kids have a way of getting what they want. they’re are smarter than we think. 🙂
They sure are. I sometimes call my son my grandfather. 🙂
I read earlier, but, apparently, didn’t leave a comment. I enjoyed this one. The progression was logical and … funny!!!

Haha yes of course!
Neat story.
Thanks for reading.
Smart kid. You should get one of them tree climbing dogs.
Yeah right, so I spend my afternoons chasing him up trees!
Clever child!
🙂 Yep
Kids learn very early on how to get what they want from their mothers. I read that you’d got him a fish tank. Do you keep the dog in it?
Yes not only does he climb trees, he likes to swim as well.
Are you sure it was a DOG you got your son? 🙂
You’re right I should check again.
